Well this one was not a gold coin donation but $5.00 entry fee. Overall I felt it was well worth it. A great mix from Microlites to model air planes/helicopters. Photos now posted so judge for yourself.

Well we all haveĀ  to try something new… so I decided I will aim to give up the cigarettes and learn to play guitar. So I had my first lesson today. Didn’t go to badly. Definitely no Santana :) I have included a picture of my new guitar. This is the one that will have the blood from my left fingers on the fretboard. Yes I have even learned the terminology.

Now I did get a good deal on Trademe for the guitar. I also picked up an electronic tuner and well I must say this guitar needs a lot of tuning. Apparently because the strings are new. Probably a polite way of saying I will be rough on it.

My lesson consisted of 30-45 minutes on seating, holding and learning the different parts. Then moved on to basic strum and 3 chords (A major, E Major and D Major). Looks like I can throw away the couple of years of piano lessons. Very different beast. I will post more as I find things of interest. I did dive into YouTube and look at the beginner videos on there. Some are quite similar to my tutor and others are well a bit too advanced. The thing I have to watch is picking up bad habits. I am dedicating at least 30 minutes per day to learning so hopefully next week I will have something to show other than calluses on my fingers.

Distilling ethanol has become a hobby. I must say I have had some great compliments regarding the drinks I have produced.

I do have a secret ingrediant and it works. However this still is the key to it all.
